Danehill. His name is etched into Australian racing history as a legendary influence on the breed here. His deeds need no introduction, and yet the list of his achievements is worthy of repetition. In some ways, Danehill is the private school kid who had every advantage in life. His third dam, Natalma, is the dam of the great Northern Dancer. This is a one of the great families in the Stud Book, although at the time of Danehill’s birth, his was a weaker branch with his second dam, Spring Adieu, a minor winner of three races. Spring Adieu’s third foal was Razyana, who ran second twice from three starts as a two year-old, and Danehill was her first foal. Danehill was born in 1986, in the fifth crop of boom young sire Danzig.
